Rankings: the UK and the 27 EU member states
Each score is the average of z-scores (each metric standardised across the 28 countries and capped at ±3) within two pillars, Economy and Quality of life, and the overall score is the mean of the two pillar scores; the methodology page sets out each step. To set two or three countries side by side, use Compare.
Change the weights
Every metric starts at 1 (equal weights). Weights are relative: 2 counts twice as much as 1, and 0 removes the metric. Changes update the table and the address bar, so a view can be shared.

Where a country lacks a metric, that metric is left out of its score rather than filled in. The badge shows how many metrics fed each pillar score.
This table covers economy and quality-of-life measures only. It does not measure sovereignty, regulatory autonomy, migration policy or other non-economic factors that people weigh.
How sensitive are these ranks?
Some GDP-based measures are affected by how multinational companies record profits, most visibly in Ireland. These alternative calculations apply the same change to every country. The methodology page sets out the headline calculation.
